The 2018 Outstanding Leadership Award Reception will be held on Tuesday May 15th, 2018 at the Norwich Inn in Norwich, CT.

The Outstanding Leadership Award recognizes an individual who provides noteworthy and extraordinary leadership of citizens in communities in New London County. Honoring outstanding leadership delivers a message to our youth that character counts. The lives of outstanding leaders put into place guideposts that serve to inspire our youth to lead, to accept responsibility, and to care about principles and causes beyond self-interest.

The Community Service Award recognizes outstanding organizations that play a vital role in the development and growth of our community. The spirit of Eastern Connecticut is greatly enriched by the continual support of our business community. The Connecticut Rivers Council is pleased to recognize those organizations that make a significant contribution to the quality of life in our community.

The Outstanding Community Organization Award recognizes the commitment of local organizations to better the community around them. Scouting has long instilled in youth the value of services to one's community, and through this award we seek to honor such exemplary service in Southeastern Connecticut.

The Community Educator Award recognizes an individual who has dedicated their career to educating others. Their dedication is measured by their impact on others through a unique or creative delivery method, along with their own personal service to the community.

The Boy Scouts of America

For over 100 years, the Boy Scouts of America has led the nation in providing citizenship training for American youth. Through the years, Scouting has provided young people with character-development programs based on values found in the Scout Oath: duty to God, duty to country, duty to others, and duty to self.

Today’s often-heard call for a return to ethical behavior, self-reliance, and caring and concern for others refers precisely to the values expressed in the Scout Law, the bedrock of the movement since 1910.
